Taking a break from music production...

Posted by FateModified - November 5th, 2018

I haven't been feeling it these last few weeks as far as music production. The inspiration I once had seems to have been hiding itself from me lately. I've been producing my own music for just over 5 years in my spare time, and while I've learned a lot during that time, I feel like I've made way too little progress to reaching my goal of making a living from producing music.

So I've decided to take a step back from producing music for a while. I plan to spend that time instead improving my musicianship on keyboard and electric guitar and to do some serious regular study of music, hit the books seriously. I couldn't really do that with the little time I have off work since I've been using pretty much all of that time to play around with my DAW.

If inspiration hits me, I might still produce something, but I'd rather focus on being a serious student of music for a while instead of spending my time searching for inspiration that doesn't come. The plan is to come back strong with a solid knowledge and foundation in music studies and musician skills to where it will be much easier to produce professional quality music that moves people.

So I'll catch you guys on the flip-flop, and I'll definitely keep checking out your awesome music here on NG.

Difenetly you need to take a brake.

I can totally relate to this feeling. The study route has been up and down for me, so I hope it helps you in the way you're looking for; make sure to stick around and see if you can gather some helpful supplementary lessons from the incredibly talented Newgrounds musicians! :)

I hope it helps me too. I've got some great books; I just need to take the time to learn and apply them and to be a better physical player. I'll definitely stick around to learn from you as well as other talented musicians! ;)
